To me, Basement Jaxx have always been this chirpy house-pop group who liked to fill the charts with their fruity dance music. They never really pissed me off, but never interested me either. (OK, I must admit: when I was 13, "where's your head at?" was kind of kool.)
Anyway, now, 3 years after their last album, the british duo is back with a very promising single. Packed with all the necessary ingredients to make me dance and sing along, I just might become a Basement Jaxx fan afterall. Moving with the times, BJ appear to have been inspired by the recent wave of mystical/oriental sounding indie artists such as Bat for lashes and Crystal Fighters.
Yes, "Raindrops" is fruity, but in the form of a tasty cocktail with pineapple,grapes,sex, one of those little umbrellas and LSD. Mystical and beautifully colourful, the video is in perfect harmony with the song.
The upcoming album "Scars" is due to be released on september 21st (my 21st birthday).
