Interior Inspiration: Aubrey Road

Here at Common Echo our main focus is on spreading audible luuuurve. This does not mean, however, THAT I CAN'T BLOG WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
OK, after having enjoyed that brief, euphoric moment of "journalistic freedom" (pffft) I have calmed down and will now continue...
Aubrey Road is the blog I visit when I'm seeking inspiration for my future, ideal apartment. Below are some examples of my personal favourites.

Oh, and by the way: I'm 21 and literally have 18 cents on my bank account.

Coma Cinema: Free Album Download

After seeing Lukas' post on Coma Cinema's Flower Pills video (the post below) I checked out their Myspace and saw that that you can download their debut album entitled "Baby Prayers" for free here on their website!

RIP GURU (July 17, 1966 – April 19, 2010)

Hip Hop legend Keith Elam aka Guru has lost his long and hard battle with cancer.
He'll be missed.

Via National Post:

"I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options," the rapper wrote in a letter that was posted on website allhiphop.com

The letter also cited that Guru's current collaborator and producer Solar would have responsibility of Guru's artistic legacy. The letter also takes aim at former collaborator DJ Premier.

"I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ."

Sun Airway

The Song »Infinity« will be featured on Sun Airway's upcoming debut album which i'm curious about since last year, when »Oh Naoko« from the philadelphian-duo's first EP turned out to be one of my favourite pop tunes - thanks to the walrus for displaying such great music! Jon from the band has also put together a grandiose mixtape which you should check out as well!

"Iamamiwhoami - O"

The artist behind this is still unknown. Pretty cool though

Iamamiwhoami - O from John on Vimeo.

Video: Snoop Dogg feat. Kid Cudi - That Tree

I blogged this diplo-produced track a few weeks back, and there's now a video for it.
Oh, and it appears that they've decided to speed the track up by an estimated 10 bpm...

Neon Indian - Psychic Charms (Brahms Remix)

GAYNGS

Ryan Olson, Zach Coulter, Adam Hurlbert, Joe Westerlund, Phil Cook, Brad Cook, Michael Lewis, Justin Vernon, Ivan Rosebud, Stefon LeRon Alexander, Mike Noyce, Jake Luck, James Buckley, Nick Ryan, Shön Troth, Danny Krzykowski, Chaney Moon Cassell, Katy Morley, Maggie Wander, Maggie Morrison, Joe Mabbott, Grant Cutler, Xander.

Yep, that's the members list of Gayngs, the new so-called supergroup from Minnesota, and, to be honest, only the name Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) rings a bell, and, to be honest again, that totally suffices.
I love me some Bon Iver, and, even without being too hot on jazz, Gayngs' music tickles my fancy in just the right way when it comes to music I like to lye in bed to, wondering just how long it will be until hoverboards become a reality.

Their inspiration? Well, they say their only inspiration comes from 10cc's "I'm Not In Love", which, excuse my american, is an awesome statement... dude.

Gayngs' debut album entitled "Relayted" is soon to be released via JAGJAGUWAR and contains 11 finger-licking tracks, each recorded at 69 bpm, so you know they're sexual. Promotion for the album in form of several visually appealing videoclips can be found on their Vimeo page. My favourite example:

Gayngs - The Gaudy Side of Town:

A New Familjen

The wait for a new Familjen track is over!
The first single from the upcoming album »Mänskligheten« (Humanity) is called
»När planeterna stannat« (When the Planets Have Stopped).

You can listen and download the song via Adrian Recordings.

Familjen - När planeterna stannat from Adrian Recordings on Vimeo.

Matthew Herbert

Today is the release day of »One One«, the first part of Matthew Herbert's »One Trilogy«!

Manchester by Accidental Records

»ONE ONE sees Herbert pushing the concept of the solo project to its logical conclusion by writing, performing and producing a whole album completely by himself. He even sings for the first time, lending the record a feeling of vulnerability and intimacy not seen in his releases for years. «

Janka Nabay- Eh Congo

I figured it was only a matter of time before indie labels started signing not only Congo influenced artists such as Vampire Weekend and Tanlines, but actual west African artists. Meet Janka Nabay, a man who didn't let Sierra Leone's civil war which ended in 2002 stop him from recording music that gives you ants in your pants... and the need to dance.

The self-proclaimed king of bubu music has now released these songs on his debut EP via True Panther Records.

Video: Christian Martin - GHOSTS

Trapez Records

Video: Two Door Cinema Club - Something Good Can Work

This phoenixesque song first tickled my fancy when I heard it on 2009's Kitsune Maison vol. 7 compilation, and is now the 3rd single from TDCC's highly recommendable debut album.
